A food that I love most-- Sinigang na baboy!-- a filipino food

Sinigang na baboy recipe
1 kilo of pork cut into 1/2"x2"
3 tomatoes, quartered
2 medium onions, sliced
3 medium-sized gabi roots, peeled and cut into 1/2"x2"
1 medium-sized radish sliced into 1/2 thick
1 liter water
1 cup string beans cut into 2" long
1 cup kangkong leaves
1 pack tamarind powder

Procedure:
1. Sautè pork in garlic and onion for 10 minutes
2. Add tomatoes and continue sautéing for 5 minutes.
3. Add water and fish sauce. Cook for 30 minutes or until the pork is tender.
4. Add the gabi roots and simmer for 10 minutes or until the gabi is soft.
5. Pour the tamarind soup base and simmer for 10 minutes.
6. Best when served hot with rice.

*The very best dish of filipinos. One of the greatest native food ever! Must try!!
 
Wow. Sounds mouth watering. I love Filipino food. Sinigang is really good if you cook it right. But if not it will taste too sour or the other way around. Thanks for the recipe.

My favorite Filipino food is Dinugguan. Have you tried it? :)

Yes, I do love dinuguan! It's aroma and taste was really addictive. Soon, I will be posting the recipe of Dinuguan. :)

Hehe. Careful. Someone may think we are barbaric. LoL. I am a vampire and I eat blood. LoL.
 
I'm so shocked that you are sauteing it. Maybe we have different procedures on how to cook sinigang. My favorite is sinigang too and pakbet i love vegetables. ANd it's delicious and nutritious.

wow.. its just now that i heard that you have to saute garlic and onion for sinigang.. better try that..
 
we have the same favorite filipino dish :D


have you tried Coconut Grill's sinigang sa buko/bayabas? If you haven't, try it. It has a different taste, delicious! But sinigang sa sampaloc will always be the best!
 
i like sinigang but i love adobe. The sweet, sour, and even the salty one. It can be pork or chicken. Better with pineapple chunks and laurel leaves. Now im hungry! Hehehehe...

i really miss some pilipino foods because im working abroad.before i used to eat pig now i stop because too much fat...so my favorite now is "sinigang na hipon"yummy!
