The negative rep is for trolling back the trolls, not for scamming. I do not see how it could effect my trades in any way.

Vouch for JohnG, you might not like him, but he's legit, and I've dealt with him before. His rep came as a result for getting aggressive in response to a few comments on his last thread, I'm not commenting on whether he deserved/didn't deserve it.
