A machine has been made that keeps human livers alive and functioning for 24 hours outside of the human body. This is a large improvement over the current method which was to put it on ice...this gave doctors only 14 hours and it also lead to many livers being wasted because of ice damage or oxygen deprivation.
I was actually surprised that they didn't already have something like this. But I imagine it is extremely complicated, especially when dealing with important and essential organs such as the liver.

I wonder what they do with kidneys? That is probably one of the other most needed and transplanted organs.
