I prefer that over tab, but if it's a song I've heard constantly, I can pick up the rhythm fairly easily looking at tab. I think the main issue I have is I'm used to looking at real tab, (ex: time signature, on staff paper, all that) rather then compared to the "crude" tabs on sites like...

I must fail at that, because I'll pull up a song on Youtube/Ultimate Guitar and try and figure out the tab, and my brain just goes kaplort.

I'm assuming your talking about tab, which though easier to read then actual notation, is no where near as "affective" You can't write rhythms with tab.
