Ideas for New PC Please

So my computer is getting a little out of date and I really want to build another rig. This time im really tempted to go high end, my current PC is probably an intermediate setup and was new a few years ago. But as you will probably know, there is always something new being released.

Im after a new PC to take to Uni as I cant take my current one as my brother has now commandeered it (I need a new one anyway)

Now I was wondering what you guys think I should get. Obviously im looking to improve my current setup which I will attach at the bottom of the post. But im looking for a graphics card around the GTX 580, and a i7 sandy processor. I tempted with 8GB as ive never been over the standard 4GB so its about time. Its also time to get a maybe a 100GB SSD for the OS and any other titbits and then a 500GB or 1TB HDD for everything else. I have no clue what im after for a motherboard, ive always used gigabyte in the past but I guess anything thats compatible with my cpu and is relatively high-end will do :) In terms of peripherals, im all good. I might start looking for a new mouse and an extra monitor though if I can afford it after this setup.

The case ill probably have to do some searching to make sure its compatible with everything aswell as having good cooling and is quiet. Ive spotted this that looks quite smart and realtively cheap too (just for shows);

So guys, thoughts, recommendations etc please. Im a intel and nvidia man, not going to go into reasons because this thread would get quickly off topic.

Thanks a bunch.

More RAM is good I just don't see anyone using enough apps to ever use all 16GB, I say 8GB of RAM is good

If I need more ram I can buy more later on. So 8GB will do just fine for now.
I dont plan on going sli because I really think a 580 will be fine.
Im not looking for a super high end gaming machine, just the best for £900 / $1500.

Haha, maybe because macs suck ass?
You can build a twice as better PC with the money you would spend on any mac.
